BREWER – The Third Watch Hockey team will play a benefit game against the Fredericton Police Department hockey team from New Brunswick at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at the T.J. Ryan Center in Brewer.

Third Watch comprises personnel from the fire department, police department and Maine Army National Guard. Third Watch and many other adult leagues from the United States and Canada are among several groups of dedicated individuals who travel to play for local charities. The athletes pay their own travel expenses.

Third Watch recently traveled to Philadelphia and Orlando, Fla., to play for charities in those cities.

In Orlando, a tournament of teams from all over the country raised money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Third Watch won its division in the tournament.

The Fredericton Police Department agreed to come to Bangor to help the Bangor Noon Kiwanis and Third Watch Hockey team help keep the Police Athletic League Center open for children in the Bangor area. Bangor Noon Kiwanis has pledged to fund the PAL center for this year and is undertaking many fundraisers to achieve this goal, including the Third Watch Hockey game.

“Please support this group of dedicated young men, your Bangor Noon Kiwanis and Police Athletic League by attending the game on Saturday, Feb 11, said Kiwanis member Debby Paradis. Tickets are $5 per person and children 12 may attend free. There will be refreshments, baked goods and popcorn for sale, and raffle prizes will be drawn.
