Riverbend Players to hold auditions for one-act plays

BUCKSPORT – The Riverbend Players of Bucksport will hold auditions for three one-act plays to be performed at the end of April. Auditions will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at Jewett Community Center.

Use the Bridge Street parking lot and entrance. Once inside, follow the “Riverbend Player Auditions” arrows. It is not necessary to bring any prepared reading-audition materials, as they will be provided.

There are parts available for two of the three one-act plays:

“Oh Say Can You Sing,” a comedy by Spranger Barry. The characters include:

. A 40-year-old mother, who is a friendly, patient and understanding woman.

. A 14-year-old girl, who pictures herself a bit more grown up than her years.

. A 14-year-old boy, who also pictures himself a bit more grown up than his years.

. A 50-year-old woman, who is quite perky, and excitable, but also quite sharp.

. A 20-year-old young lady who is quite impulsive.

. A 22-year-old young man who is quite personable, also excitable.

“Second Honeymoon,” a rather comic short drama by Claire G. Sifton. The characters include:

. Mrs. Wilson, a lady approximately 60 years of age, who is a bit worn, but still an attractive woman.

. Mr. Wilson, a man of about 65, who is full of life and vigor.

. John, a man of approximately 35-45, the son-in-law.

. Frank, a man of undetermined age, the neighbor.

Organizers look forward to welcoming auditioners. For further information, contact Suzi Leeman at suzi@riverbendplayers.com or 469-5885.
