Nemer, Chasse spark Ashland

ASHLAND – Ashley Nemer and Mindy Chasse each scored six points in the fourth quarter to lift Ashland to a 52-44 schoolgirl basketball win over Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics Friday night.

Nemer finished with a game-high 21 points, three on the 100th 3-point goal of her career.

Chasse and Whitney Flint each added 10 points for Ashland.

Julie Peers led Limestone with 16 points, while Anna Haller scored 10.

At Mars Hill, Tim Carlson and Andrew York combined for 21 fourth-quarter points as host Central Aroostook pulled away from stubborn Van Buren for its 17th straight victory.

Carlson finished with a season-high 26 points for the Panthers, who trailed 42-41 entering the final period, while York had 22.

Ben Doucette paced Van Buren with 16 points, while Trevor Hews scored 12 and Tyler Conley added 11.
