PORTLAND – Members of the “Hot Squad” team have been selected and the team is ready to make one Maine family’s heating dreams come true. In a new reality series created by Maine’s WB, a Portland-based television station, and Executive Producer John Marshall, the program will be a makeover show focusing exclusively on home heating.
Hundreds of families entered, but in the end the Nobles family of Norway was chosen to receive a complete home energy makeover. It will include new insulated windows from Paradigm Windows, an insulation upgrade from Warm-Tech Solutions of Yarmouth, a new furnace provided by Mainely Heating and Plumbing, and much more.
Many businesses are stepping forward to help with the project. The Nobles will have a free week’s stay at the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport while the bulk of the work is being done.
“With the high cost of fuel and the cold that’s predicted, this contest has fired the imaginations of many cold homeowners,” said Marshall.
Sponsored by Efficiency Maine, the show will feature Kaile Warren, National Home Improvement Expert as seen on the CBS Early Show. Also, Wendy Reed, Energy Star expert from the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington is flying in for the taping of the show.
“Hot Squad” premieres at 8:30 p.m. Feb. 18 on Maine’s WB, which is Channel 4 on Adelphia Cable systems in the Bangor area. It also will air in different time slots for the next 41 days to give everyone a chance to see it.
