WASHBURN – Anna Haller poured in a game-high 24 points while Kelly Peers and Brittany King each scored four points in overtime as 10th-seeded Limestone/MSSM upset seventh-seeded Washburn, 44-38 in an Eastern Maine Class D girls bas ketball preliminary-round game Tuesday.

Limestone/MSSM will face No. 2 seed Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook, 17-2, in Monday’s 11:05 a.m. quarterfinal at the Bangor Auditorium.

Peers and King finished with seven points apiece.

Amy Reed’s 12 points and 15 rebounds sparked Washburn. Rachell Saucier and Alex Bird combined for 17 more points.

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Brendan Daigle scored a pair of goals and assisted on another and Brendan Esquibel made 31 saves as Presque Isle improved to 11-8.

Daigle’s two goals broke a 1-1 tie in the second period and gave the Wildcats a lead they would never relinquish.

Sean Flanagin and Ben McPherson had the other PI goals with Brad Young, Corey Collins, Jared Buck and Erik St. Peter notching assists.

Bill Moriarty and Joe Caparrelli scored for 5-11 Foxcroft Academy; Adam Conway had two assists and Jon Catell made 40 saves.
