LINCOLN – Jillian Ross tossed in a team-high 26 points as the ninth-seeded Belfast Lions knocked off No. 8 Mattanawcook Academy, 72-70 in an Eastern Maine Class B girls basketball preliminary game Tuesday night.
Jamie Flagg added nine more points for Belfast, who will play top seed Presque Isle in a quarterfinal on Saturday.
Quinci Sanderson led four Mattanawcook players in double figures with 26 points. Michelle Paul and Bri Hanscom notched 16 apiece and Brittany Piche 10.
