Scoring balance key for Husson

BANGOR – Six Husson College players scored in double-figures to lead the Eagles to a 92-68 men’s basketball victory over Thomas College of Waterville Tuesday night.

Tyler Muzzy scored 18 points, Buddy Leavitt put in 16 and Jordan Heath added 15 to pace Husson, which outscored Thomas 51-29 in the second half after ending the first half with a two-point edge.

Sheraud Lee chipped in with 14 points for the Eagles, Jason Harvey netted 13 and Phil White added 12. Leavitt also had 11 rebounds and White had 10.

James Godley paced Thomas with 24 points.

At Gorham, Tony Barros pumped in a game-high 29 points and he also had four rebounds and three steals to lead UMass-Boston past the University of Southern Maine.

Bill Hardwick’s 22 points and four steals, both team-highs, and Andy Frost’s nine points, four rebounds and team-high four assists led the University of Southern Maine.

At Newman Gym in Bangor, Carmen Ballard and Jodie Merchant each turned in strong all-around games to lead the Eagles by the Terriers of Waterville.

Ballard scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Merchant had 17 points and 13 rebounds. Each player also had five assists and two steals.

Chelsea Dow chipped in with 16 points for the winners.

Toby Martin paced Thomas with 24 points, Lea McNary put in 11 and Kim Drosdik had 10.
