ORLAND – The Great Pond Mountain Snowshoe Run will take place Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery.

Registration begins at noon, with races to follow at 1 p.m.

The kids’ snowshoe run will cover nearly one-half mile through the woods and back along a dirt road. Each finisher will receive a small prize.

Cadillac Mountain Sports will offer a free day’s rental of snowshoes for children who participate. Equipment must be picked up at stores prior to the run.

The main event will be 2.2 miles along wooded trails. The total elevation will be about 400 feet, with no more than a 50-foot ascent at one time.

Refreshments will be served after the race.

Suggested donation to participate is $5 per person. Proceeds will benefit the Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust. Donations will also be accepted for the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center.
