DOVER, N.H. – A former employee of Liberty Mutual has been charged with stealing thousands of dollars in uncollected claims from clients.

Martha Perkins, 41, of Lebanon, Maine, was charged with six felony counts of theft. Each count carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.

Perkins worked as a financial representative at a Dover branch of Liberty Mutual before being fired in December.

Authorities said that between August and November of last year, Perkins deposited $13,000 worth of policyholders’ claim checks into her personal account.

Police arrested her Friday. She was released on bail and is due in court March 10.
