Panthers trip up Bangor Rangeley records tourney victory

BANGOR – Jason Sitton netted a goal 29 seconds into overtime to give the Waterville Panthers a 3-2 high school hockey victory over the Bangor Rams Saturday at Sawyer Arena. Zach Jocham scored a goal and had two assists while Barrett Moore added a goal.

BANGOR – Jason Sitton netted a goal 29 seconds into overtime to give the Waterville Panthers a 3-2 high school hockey victory over the Bangor Rams Saturday at Sawyer Arena.

Zach Jocham scored a goal and had two assists while Barrett Moore added a goal. Joseph Fonollosa made 32 saves on 34 shots for the Panthers.

Dan Shufelt and Christian Dionne each scored a goal for Bangor. Dylan George contributed two assists while Joe Gagne had an assist. Josh Seeley stopped 16 of 19 shots for the Rams.

Kents Hill 8, Stearns 5

At Kents Hill, Nick Kolb scored three goals and had an assist to lead Kents Hill by Stearns.

Micah Ehilobo had two goals and an assist while Ben Dehaveil scored a goal with four assists. Will Purdy and Andrew Nock each added a goal. Colin Fyler and Pat MacAleer each contributed an assist. Will Reyes made 16 saves on 21 shots for the Kents Hill.

Mike Simon had two goals and three assists while Mike Busque had two goals and two assists for Stearns. Jacob Emery added an assist. Paul Rucci had 39 saves on 47 shots, setting a school career record with 765 saves.

At the Augusta Civic Center, Nicole Crupi tallied a game-high 17 points to lead No. 2 Rangeley by No. 7 Vinalhaven.

Rangeley advances to play No. 3 Kents Hill Thursday at 10 a.m.

Ashley Quimby scored 13 points while Angela White added 10 for the winners.

Flora Drury paced Vinalhaven with 11 points. Meagan Davidson added 10 for the Vikings.

Richmond advances to play No. 3 Rangeley on Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Glendon Kendrick scored 18 points for the Bobcats while Eric Christie had 14 points. William Milne added 10 points for the winners.

Tim Gilboe scored a game-high 31 points to pace Forest Hills. Stephen Achey scored 13 points while Justin Felker added 12 points for the Tigers.
