Harvey, White lead Eagles by Mariners

BANGOR – Jason Harvey and Phil White each netted 17 points to lead Husson College to a 75-68 North Atlantic Conference men’s basketball quarterfinal victory over Maine Maritime Academy on Tuesday at Newman Gym.

Buddy Leavitt added 13 points and Tyler Muzzy 12 for the Eagles.

Neil Stewart scored 14 points and Brandon Hall 13 for the Mariners of Castine.

Travis Carrier chipped in with 16 points and 13 rebounds while Sean Fry had 12 points. Travis Magnusson added 11 points for the Beavers.

Aecio Maderia scored 23 points to lead Thomas while James Godley tossed in 17 points.

At Keene, N.H., Tyler Kathan scored 17 of his game-high 19 points in the second half as the Owls held off the Huskies of Gorham in a Little East Conference quarterfinal.

Keene took a 30-18 halftime lead, but USM cut the margin to 36-32 before the Owls pulled away for good.

Bill Hardwick and Walter Phillips posted 17 points apiece for Southern Maine.

At Gorham, Katie Frost of Brewer scored 15 points and recorded six assists as the University of Southern Maine routed UMass Dartmouth in a Little East Conference quarterfinal.

Megan Myles scored 13 points, Stacey Kent added 11, and Donna Cowing and Dawn Ross had 10 each as the Huskies won their 46th straight home game and 60th straight against LEC opponents.

Southern Maine will host the tourney semifinals and final on Friday and Saturday.

Lindsay Marsh topped UMass Dartmouth with 10 points.

At Castine, Julia Knights poured in 21 points as the Mariners rallied past the Eagles in a North Atlantic Conference quarterfinal game.

MMA will play Castleton State Friday at 6 p.m. in a semifinal.

Shelley Gott chipped in with 14 points, including 10-for-10 shooting from the free-throw line, and 11 rebounds. Alyssa Burns had 15 points.

Jodie Merchant powered Husson of Bangor with 17 points and nine rebounds. Annie McIntosh scored 15 points to go with 10 rebounds.
