RUMFORD – Freeport won both the boys and girls Class C State Ski Championships at Black Mountain on Wednesday. Freeport edged Fort Kent 135-184 in the girls division and the boys beat out Winthrop 147-253.
Telstar of Bethel was third with 418 points followed by John Bapst of Bangor (503) and Madawaska (508).
In the boys, Fort Kent was third with 325, followed by Madawaska (349) and John Bapst (486).
Lucy Garrec of Freeport won the girls Classical with a time of 14:37.9. Ingrid Knowles placed second for North Yarmouth Academy in 15:09.8 and Fort Fairfield’s Hilary McNamee finished with a time of 15:13.4 which was good enough for third.
Linsay Cyr of Fort Kent won the Skimeister with a total of 75. Cyr had her best finishes in the Slalom (5th) and Giant Slalom (10th). Jenifer Denormandie of Telstar was second with a 106.
Lucas Milliken of Waynflete won the boys Classical with a 13:29.2. Madawaska teammates George Bragdon (13:40.2) and Andrew Levesque (13:47.3) were right behind.
Freeport’s Nate Fuller claimed the Skimeister with a 48 by edging Derek Pelletier of Fort Kent who had 49.
Fuller was eighth in the Giant Slalom and ninth in the Cross Country Classical. Pelletier placed seventh in the Giant Slalom and Cross Country Freestyle and finished fifth in the Cross Country Classical.
