AUGUSTA – Brooke Hammond of Frankfort took first place in the Pre-Preliminary A class at the Skate Your Heart Out competition Monday.
The 10-year-old Hammond has been skating for three years with the Penobscot Figure Skaters club at Sawyer Arena in Bangor.
Approximately 75 skaters from clubs in central and southern Maine participated in the event, which included classes for beginners on up. Pre-Preliminary A is the second highest class, behind Preliminary A.
