People from churches in Belfast and Bangor are participating in a “30-hour famine” this weekend.

The event is designed to call attention to global and local hunger problems. On Monday, Manna Ministries of Bangor is inviting individuals, families and organizations to participate in a “Pray and Fast” food drive.

Participants are invited to pick a meal to skip on that day and donate either the food they would have eaten or the money they would have spent to Manna or another Maine food pantry.

Donations may be delivered to Manna, 629 Main St.

For information on Manna, call 990-2870. For information on the 30-hour famine, call 338-2544 or 338-2282.
