ORONO – The town will celebrate the 200th anniversary of its founding at a gala featuring 200 birthday cakes from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at the Asa Adams School cafeteria.

The event, part of Orono’s yearlong bicentennial celebration, will feature a musical program arranged by Susan Smith, along with speeches by Gov. John Baldacci and local dignitaries.
