Plates on truck lead to drug charges

A Bangor woman was charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana Sunday night after Bangor police Officer Shawn Green noticed a GMC Sierra had illegal license plates.

Green observed a woman walking on the roadway between Third and Fourth streets around 11 p.m. Sunday and was concerned for her because of the cold weather. He turned around to check on her and watched as a truck picked her up.

He then went to check on another car and observed the same truck leaving the Main Street Inn 10 minutes later.

The officer called in the registration and found that the plates belonged on another vehicle.

When the truck pulled into a driveway at 86 Lincoln St., Green pulled in behind it and made a traffic stop.

The woman, later identified as Shirly Arrick, 28, of Old Town, got out of the truck. Two men also were in the truck. The driver was Donald Lambert, 38, of Bangor.

Lambert was arrested after it was discovered that his license was suspended, and he was in violation of bail conditions. The other man was released.

While searching Arrick, Green found what appeared to be cocaine, a plastic bag containing marijuana, and a cocaine pipe.

Arrick was arrested and taken to the Bangor police station while the white substance was tested. After tests determined it was cocaine she was taken to Penobscot County Jail and charged with possession of Schedule W drugs and a usable amount of marijuana.
