You try not to think about it.
What is your secret to staying warm?
Layers of clothing. Keep moving. And I have little heat pads under my gloves.
What is the biggest hazard you face?
Ice. Especially icy steps.
How many houses do you deliver mail to each day?
About 400.
What do you do for fun?
Spend time with my family.
Now that they are over, will you miss the Olympics?
The way they timed it and split it up made it not as enjoyable.
What is your favorite event?
Women’s ice skating.
Where do you go for vacation?
I try to go to Brooklyn, New York, where I’m from.
When did you move to Maine?
1984.

I like the people. They’re genuinely friendly.

My daughter is in the Gilbert and Sullivan group in Ellsworth. I went to her show.
What did you have for breakfast?
I don’t eat breakfast. I had a cup of coffee.
What do you want people to know about being a mailman in winter?
We really appreciate if they sand and shovel. Especially sand. It hurts when you fall. A $2 bag of sand lasts a whole month.
