Residents will decide today whether to spend $16,400 to replace the leaking roof over the Town Hall during the annual town meeting at the Town Hall.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m., and a luncheon will be served at noon by the Cambridge Cruisers All-Terrain Vehicle Club.

The proposed appropriations this year are $106,484, an increase of $1,477 over last year, according to Carol Laplant, administrative assistant.

Forty-three articles will need voter attention, including a proposal to use $50,000 of the town’s highway funds to pave the North Road.

Laplant said an article is included on the warrant to increase the property tax levy limit set by LD 1 of $126,000 should voters approve more expenditures than proposed by selectmen.

Elections will include three selectmen for one-year terms, a town clerk, SAD 4 director, HAD 4 director, a road commissioner, three planning board members, and three members for the appeals board.

Clifton

Incumbents Edward Beauchamp and David Kerns are running unopposed for their selectman seats, which will be decided during voting 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, March 18, at the Clifton Municipal Building.

At 1:30 p.m., residents are asked to gather again at the building for the annual town meeting, during which they will decide on whether to enact the budget, a noise ordinance, and a development moratorium ordinance.

Residents also will cast ballots to see if the planning board ordinance should be changed to allow more than one municipal officer to sit on the board. Copies of the new ordinances and the amendment are available at the town office.

Each of the proposed budget lines, except for human services and general assistance, have increases that range from $210 for organizations to $21,510 for waste disposal. Still unknown is the Penobscot County tax, which has been estimated at $53,000, the same amount as this year.
