Thank you, Bears

I would like to thank Shaun Russell, Ted Woodward, and his staff as well as the UMaine men’s team for their recent sharing of time with the kids from Winterport. Shaun gave the kids a tremendous opportunity to play in the Alfond Arena as the cheerleaders made them feel “all grown up.”

Coach Woodward and the team welcomed the kids during Christmas break and interacted with them individually as well as in small group games. Over the years the UMaine men’s team has been a positive influence on youth in the vicinity and has been a great resource to instill goal-setting through the game of basketball.

My congratulation to the athletic department for attracting such high caliber people to fill leadership roles in coaching the men and women on the UMaine teams. They are looked up to and appreciated by the youth of Winterport and “Go Black Bears.”
