Three bids, all within the proposed $10,797,500 budget, were submitted Thursday for construction of the SeDoMoCha Elementary School. Bids were opened by SAD 68 officials. Bowman Brothers of Newport submitted the lowest bid, $8,781,000, followed by JCN of Manchester, N.H., at $8,796,400 and Ledgewood of Portland at $8,887,816. Each of the companies submitted seven alternate bids for additional work that was not included in the base bid. “We had three excellent bids,” said SAD 68 Superintendent John Dirnbauer. He said the bids would be reviewed and an award should be made at a special board meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, in the superintendent’s conference room. The new school, which will consist of a wing on SeDoMoCha Middle School and some renovations, was approved by voters during a March 2005 referendum. The school also will house the superintendent’s office. (Diana Bowley, BDN)
