GORHAM – The University Southern Maine and Bowdoin College women’s basketball teams will battle in the NCAA Division III Sectional final tonight at 7 after posting semifinal victories at the USM gym Friday night.

USM defeated Bridgewater (Va.) 68-55 and Bowdoin beat Mary Washington (Va.) 62-54.

The winner of tonight’s game advances to the final four in the national tourney.

In the second game, Ashley Marble scored 21 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the USM Huskies past Bridgewater College.

Megan Myles contributed 12 points, four assists, and three steals for Southern Maine. Katie Frost chipped in with 11 points and four assists, and Shanon Kynoch added 10 points.

Marsha Kinder scored 17 points for Bridgewater. Shannon Scales had 13 points and Katy Herr had 11 points and four steals.

In the first game, Eileen Flaherty had 29 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals to lead Bowdoin to victory.

Marisa Berne chipped in with 11 points for Bowdoin and Justine Pouravelis added nine points and nine rebounds.

Sarah Flanagan paced the Eagles with 10 points.

Husson, Salve Regina split

At Orlando, Fla., Jeff Miller and Jason Harvey paced a 12-hit attack as Husson of Bangor downed Salve Regina 13-5 in the second game to earn a split of their doubleheader.

Husson coach John Winkin now has 998 career victories.

Salve Regina nipped the Eagles 12-11 in 10 innings in the first game.

In the nightcap, Harvey belted a double and two singles, knocking in three runs, and Miller added three singles and two RBIs for Husson (3-3). Travis Tripp picked up the win.

In the opener, Justin Spencer rapped a double and three singles and knocked in three for the Eagles. Miller posted a double, two singles, and four RBIs.

Maine drops two

At Orlando, Fla., freshman Lisa Sweeney tossed a no-hitter to lead Lehigh past the University of Maine 1-0. Tennessee State also shut out the Black Bears 3-0 in the Rebel Games on Thursday.

In the first game, Sarah Bennis pitched eight innings and allowed just one run on one hit and struck out six for the Black Bears.

In the second game, Jenna Balent went seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits for Maine. Molly McKinney singled and walked.
