RUMFORD – Team Maine staged a final-day comeback and overcame a 98-point deficit heading into the final event to win the TD Banknorth Eastern J2 (ages 14-15) Championships at Black Mountain Sunday afternoon.

Justin Fereshetian of Maine won the overall boys individual title while teammates Lucas Milliken and Emily Atwood finished third in the boys and girls standings, respectively, to help Maine win the overall team title with 16,289 points to runner-up Vermont’s 15,887.

Maine scored 500 more points than Vermont in the 4-by-2 1-kilometer freestyle relay to win. Massachusetts finished third with 11,662 points and New Hampshire was fourth with 11,390.
