A bill that sought to repeal Maine’s tax on garden seeds is dead for this year’s session. Supporters saw the bill as a way to help families who grow their own food. But it was not received well at a time that all tax exemptions are being scrutinized in the State House. The bill received favorable House votes, but the Senate refused to go along and rejected it.
