LANTANA, Fla. – Matt McGraw led a 21-hit attack for the University of Maine by going 4-for-5 with two triples, a double and five RBIs as the Black Bears drubbed Long Island University 16-5 in baseball action Monday night.

Brewer’s Joel Barrett had a double, two singles, and six RBIs for the 5-6 Bears while former Brewer teammate Kevin McAvoy, a freshman, had a double, a solo home run, and a single. Curt Smith had a single, double and triple for two RBIs.

Hampden’s Pat Moran allowed five runs in three innings, but Troy Martin came in for four innings of scoreless relief, allowing four hits and one walk while notching four strikeouts, to earn the win.

Robert Rowan led 1-2-1 Long Island with three singles and Frank DiMasi hit a two-run homer.

At Tampa, Fla., Devin Potvin slammed a two-run double in the fourth as the Husson College Eagles rallied for the victory.

Potvin finished with three RBIs as well as a single and two runs scored. Jason Harvey hit two singles, while Danny White singled three times and drove in two runs.

Kevin Fleurie led the Chargers with a two-run double in the first and a single.

St. Joe’s wins two

At Tampa, Fla., the Monks of Standish beat Defiance College 15-5 and 5-3 in a doubleheader.

In game one, Chris Doughty had two singles, a double and three RBIs while Mark Clapp notched three singles and knocked in a pair to pace St. Joseph’s.

Keil Martin had two singles and three RBIs for the winners.

Jeremy Hawkins led Defiance with three singles and an RBI.

In game two, Clapp knocked a two-run single to pace a four-run rally in the bottom of the sixth for St. Joe’s.

Martin hit a pair of doubles for the Monks.

Casey Claeys hit two singles and drove in a run for Defiance.
