TORINO, Italy – The U.S. curling team, including Wes Smith of Glenburn, will compete in its final match of pool play today at the IX Paralympic Winter Games.

The U.S. team currently has a 2-4 record and is tied with Italy for seventh place in the pool. Canada and Denmark lead the pool, each with a 4-2 record. The top four teams advance to Friday’s semifinals, with the gold medal match set for Saturday.

Smith has been active for both of Team USA’s wins, a 6-2 victory over Switzerland on Monday and a 5-4 victory over Canada on Tuesday. The U.S. squad has lost to Norway (10-3), Denmark (6-4), Sweden (6-4) and Italy (6-1).

Team USA is scheduled to play Great Britain on Wednesday.
