ISLAND FALLS – Voter turnout was low, but business went smoothly at the annual town meeting on Monday evening.
Town Clerk Cheryl McNally said Tuesday that only 80 residents voted in the municipal election and 41 residents attended the 7 p.m. meeting.
“Other than the low turnout, it went pretty well,” she said.
Voters approved a $520,157 municipal budget and tabled for a year a decision about whether to change from their current town clerk format to a town manager style of government.
The move was requested by petition, but the decision to table the matter came after the petitioner did not show up for the town meeting, said McNally.
At the ballot box, residents gave the nod to Alfred Skolfield and Lewis Conrad to serve three-year terms on the Board of Selectmen. Wallace Townsend was elected to a two-year term.
The town did not need to elect any school board members.
