Underage drinking topic of ‘summits’

AUGUSTA – Attorney General Steven Rowe will host a “summit” on underage drinking today in Rockland, and more are planned through April.

Described as town hall-style meetings, the sessions are designed to bring together people from both the state and local levels to develop ideas for addressing underage drinking in Maine.

Some of the meetings will be led by Rowe. Other participants will include state Public Safety Department officials, law enforcement officials and community leaders.

The public is invited to each of the meetings:

. Rockland: 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, Rockland District High School, Broadway.

. Belfast: 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 23, University of Maine Hutchinson Center, Route 3.

. Millinocket: 6 p.m. Thursday, March 23, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 18 Colby St.

. Lincoln: 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 28. Location to be announced.

. Calais: 6 p.m. Thursday, March 30, Washington County Community College assembly room, Route 1.

. Houlton: 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, Houlton High School, 7 Bird St.

. Madawaska: 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, Madawaska Elementary School, 353 Eleventh Ave.

. Ellsworth: 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27. Location to be announced.
