BANGOR – A fundraiser for Grace United Methodist Church, “What Do You Do While Waiting for God to Answer Prayer?,” will be presented by Lazarus Ministries 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at the church at 193 Union St.
Workshops offered will be:
. “Engaging Scripture with the Senses,” utilizing a form of Lectio Divina as well as journaling and praying scripture. Led by Anita Louise McCormick and Kathy Macedo.
. “Preparing Our Hearts for Love,” learning to move from judgment to compassion. Includes Lectio Divina work with the scripture passage John 8:1-11 and an experiential compassion exercise. Led by the Rev. Kathryn Booth, the Rev. Joan Jordan Grant and Eric Erickson.
. “Waiting with the Bridesmaids: The Foolish and the Sensible Ways,” with reading, silence and discussion using the scripture passage Matthew 25:1-13 and experiential prayer. Led by Booth, Grant and Erickson.
. “Waiting With the 12 Steps Of Recovery,” an introduction to the 12 Steps as a way of life. With experiential exercises. Led by Lee F. White.
. “Waiting Is Not the Desert,” how people in the Bible waited on God. Led by Bill Lagerstrom.
The cost for the day is $35, including materials and refreshments. Lunch is not included; participants may bring their own.
Participants may attend any three of the five workshops offered – one in the morning, two in the afternoon.

McCormick is a member of Grace Church and the Unitarian Universalist Society of Bangor. She is a Reiki master and practitioner, a freelance writer and artist.
Macedo, who worked for 12 years as a newspaper writer and editor, has a master’s degree in divinity and is the pastor of Grace United Methodist Church in Bangor.
Booth, a graduate of Bangor Theological Seminary, has served various churches and is cofounder of The Alcyon Center, a ministry of retreat leadership, teaching and spiritual direction in Seal Cove.
Lagerstrom is staff member and founder of Lazarus Ministries. His focus is in the areas of spiritual development for the church community, outreach to the physically addicted, dysfunctional family and abuse survivor issues. His special interest is the development of community formation in small groups and men’s issues. He works with the dying in the Palliative Care Unit at Eastern Maine Medical Center, and is a member of the Northeast Guild for Spiritual Development.
