I was saddened to read about the passing of Jackie Mahaney Witham in the Bangor Daily News. Witham was a hands-on philanthropist who gave much more than money. She gave herself fully and completely. She dedicated herself to many organizations and volunteered many thousands of hours.
At Community Health and Counseling Services we were proud to have had her as one of our most dedicated board presidents and longtime board member. Once she took on a difficult task, one could be sure that it would be accomplished well.
The term “volunteer” really didn’t adequately fit Witham. She often volunteered full time at our agency and to so many more organizations.
She always had an infectious smile, laughter and a quick wit. Witham was one beautiful lady with a beautiful inner being.
I will miss her.
