Smyrna, Merrill to hold annual meetings

Annual meetings are scheduled for the following towns in the southern Aroostook County area March 20-21:

Smyrna

Voters in Smyrna will be asked to approve a $177,336 municipal budget when they head to the polls on Monday, March 20.

Incumbents John Graham and Ross Crandall are running for the two open slots on the Board of Selectmen.

Voters also will need to choose two residents to serve on the CSD 9 school board. Incumbent Heidi Swallow is running for a three-year term, and Arden Williams is seeking a two-year slot on the board.

Voting starts at 10 a.m. and the town meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Oakfield Community Center.

Merrill

A $153,300 municipal budget will be handed to voters at Merrill’s Tuesday, March 21, annual meeting.

Voters on Tuesday will need to choose one selectman. Incumbent Ralph Bartman III and Craig McMannus are vying for an open three-year term on the Board of Selectmen.

Voting will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the town meeting will follow at 7:30 p.m. at the Oakfield Community Center.

Stacyville

Residents will need to vote for one person for the Board of Selectmen and for one representative to the SAD 25 school board when they head to the ballot box and convene for their annual meeting Monday, March 20.

Incumbent David Pratt is squaring off against Alvin Theriault for the open three-year term on the selectman’s panel. Constance Theriault is running unopposed for a three-year seat on the school board.

Voters will be asked to approve a $152,668 budget when they head to the polls. Voting will run from noon to 5:30 p.m. at the town office. The annual meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the VFW hall.

Dyer Brook

The town of Dyer Brook will hold its annual town meeting Monday, March 20.

Polls will open at the town office at 10 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. The annual town meeting will follow in the same location at 7 p.m.

Melvin Morrison is running unopposed for a three-year term on the Board of Selectmen. Treasurer Randy Curry and Town Clerk Florence Hardy are both running unopposed for their respective positions.
