PHOENIX – Chris Burleson pitched six shutout innings in his collegiate debut to help the University of Southern Maine earn a 10-1 victory over Albright and earn a split of their baseball doubleheader.
Albright won the second game 8-7 in eight innings.
In the opener, Burleson scattered five singles, striking out five and walking two.
Eddie Skeffington paced the Huskies with a double and a single (3 RBIs), while Nick Vardaro and Max Arsenault each doubled and singled.
Chad Mackey led the Lions with a double and a single.
In the second game, Mackey scored the winning run on an error.
Vardaro singled twice for USM, while Stowell doubled and singled (3 RBIs).
Nate Ottaviani doubled and singled for Albright.

Southern Maine splits two
At Fort Myers, Fla., Bre Loon pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out five in the second game of the day to lead the University of Southern Maine to an 8-0 victory over Lasell.
Union College beat the Huskies 4-3 in USM’s season opener.
In the second game, Caterina Riitano, Katie Mainville, Caitlin Stivaletta, Dawn Ross, Katie Martell and Megan Stanley each recorded an RBI for the Huskies of Gorham.
In the first game, Union’s Abby Arceneaux knocked in four runs and struck out six in the circle to earn the win.
Danica Martin, Evon Hudspeth and Sabrina Mills each drove in a run for Southern Maine.
