FORT MYERS, Fla. -Freshman Sabrina Mills hit an RBI single to right field to lead the University of Southern Maine to the 1-0 win over Middlebury College in the second game of a softball doubleheader Friday.
The Huskies lost the first game 8-1 to Lawrence University.
In the second game, freshman Bre Loon struck out seven and scattered four hits to earn the win for Southern Maine and Evon Hudspeth doubled.
Jennifer Williams took the loss for Middlebury. She struck out four and allowed just three hits.
In the first game, Carrie Van Groll hit a lead off home run in the second to tie the game for Lawrence.
Mills hit a RBI single in the first inning for the Huskies.

UM-Farmington sweeps
At Newton, Mass., Mary Berry hit three singles and scored three times to lead the University of Maine at Farmington past Mount Ida College 11-1 in the second game of a doubleheader.
The Beavers also won the opener 9-0.
In the first game, Kristi Cochin hit a two-run double for UM-Farmington as Sara Martin and Holly Tripp added an RBI single. Lauren Stacey allowed just one walk and six hits to earn the shutout win.
In the second game, Cochin hit a home run and two singles to drive in three runs for the Beavers. Breanna Conners had three RBIs as Meagan Carmen struck out three and allowed one run and three hits.

Southern Maine splits
At Chandler, Ariz., Eddie Skeffington hit two doubles and a single to knock in a pair of runs to lead the University of Southern Maine of Gorham to a 12-1 win over Allegheny College in the second game of a doubleheader.
The Gators took the first game 4-3.
In the first game, Pete Obourn hit a two-run double in the fourth for Allegheny.
Ryan Bourque doubled for the Huskies.
In the second game, Bourque singled three times and drove in three runs for Southern Maine and Pat Kinslow added two singles and an RBI.
Eric Rich had two singles for the Gators.
