A 14-year-old Bangor boy was flown by LifeFlight to a Boston hospital Sunday after suffering third-degree burns on his leg from a fire he and two friends were playing with.
The three boys had been playing on a porch in Pray’s Trailer Park around 6 p.m. in Bangor and set fire to some wood in a metal bucket that contained gasoline, according to Bangor police Officer Doug Moore. Parents were apparently not around when the fire was set, police said.
One of the boys had kicked the bucket over and the gasoline was burning on the porch. The 14-year-old tried to stomp the fire out and caught his right pant leg on fire.
The boy was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center where it was determined that he had third-degree burns on his right leg. He was then flown to the Shriners Hospital in Boston for treatment.

Police arrested a Bangor man after finding OxyContin and Suboxin during a bail search.
Two officers were dispatched to do a bail search in Room 15 at the Riverview Motel, where Jason Coolidge, 28, of Bangor lives. A girlfriend let the officers in and told them that “he had just left,” according to reports. One of the officers then found Coolidge in the bathroom.
Upon a search of the bedroom, police found a pill bottle containing OxyContin under the nightstand along with a plastic bag that had other pills and a large amount of cash in it.
Coolidge was read his rights and placed under arrest. According to police, he was very cooperative and told police that he received a regular supply of the pills. He also admitted that he was addicted to OxyContin and that he had the Suboxin to help fight that addiction. He also sold the pills that he did not use to support his habit, he told police.
Coolidge was taken to Penobscot County Jail and charged with felony trafficking in Schedule W drugs and violating conditions of release.
