I’ve been vacationing in Maine for 40 years and have considerable family in the state. As a frequent visitor I’m very familiar with Maine hospitality and have witnessed it many times. Despite my positive feeling about Mainers I still have a sense of “leaving civilization” soon after I cross into the state.
My feelings surfaced recently when my son was seriously injured in a hockey game in Brewer. Driving him from the rink to an unknown hospital brought a great deal of anxiety. After arriving at Eastern Maine Medical Center it didn’t take me long to figure out I was at a top-notch facility with a top-notch staff.
I don’t think my son could have received better medical care anywhere in the country. I was also overwhelmed by the care and respect I and my wife were shown. If what happened had to happen I’m grateful it happened near Bangor.
Residents of the Bangor area, I think you know it, you’re very fortunate. EMMC is a great facility with a great staff.
