Winterport resident Lindsey Snyder will take part in the USA Swimming Spring Championships in Federal Way, Wash., this week.
Snyder, a Bangor High School graduate who attends Central Connecticut State University, qualified for the meet in the 100-meter backstroke and 200 back.
About 700 competitors, including several Olympians and world championship-level swimmers, will take part in the meet at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center today through Saturday.
Snyder’s seed time of 1 minute, 7.28 seconds is 67th out of 74 swimmers in the 100 back. Her time of 2:01.58 puts her 35th among 60 in the 200 back.
Snyder qualified in the 200 back thanks to a first-place finish at the ECAC Championships in Pittsburgh last month. Her finish there was an NCAA Division I “B” cut.
She helped power Central Connecticut State to a second-place finish at the 2006 Northeast Conference Championships, winning the 200 back and swimming on first-place teams in the 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard medley relay. Both relays set meet and team records.
Snyder finished second in the 100-yard back and was named all-conference in both backstroke events.
