The treasurer’s post will become an appointed job in 2007, after voter approval Saturday to change it from an elected position.
The part-time treasurer’s job will pay $6,000, Selectman Donald L. Grinnell said Tuesday.
All of the budget articles were accepted at the annual town meeting, he said, making the 2006 budget $692,817, which is $30,000 more than last year.
“The municipal budget is well under the LD 1 spending limit,” he said.
The town’s share of Knox County taxes is $104,850, plus a county communications dispatch fee of $21,767. The SAD 40 budget for 2006 has not been determined. The current tax rate is $15 per $1,000 of assessed property value, according to Town Clerk Cyndie Bourgeois.
At the polls Friday, Grinnell was re-elected to a three-year term as selectman. He was unopposed. Incumbent treasurer Beth Connor was re-elected to a one-year post without opposition.
There were no candidates on the ballot for a three-year SAD 40 director’s seat, but Sharon Brown won as a write-in candidate, Grinnell said, noting she has accepted the job.
Incumbent Road Commissioner Frank Jones Jr. beat opponent Maurice Condon by a 189-49 vote.
Several amendments to the land use ordinance, pertaining to farm ponds, were all approved, he said.
