International Student Exchange

FRANKLIN, N.H. – International Student Exchange, or ISE, a nonprofit school exchange program, has announced the promotion of Kathy Smith of Bangor to the position of area representative.

“These students and their families make the commitment to come to the U.S.A. to stay in homes with people whom they’ve never met,” Smith said. “Why do they come? They come to improve their English and to see and experience life in the United States. It is imperative to know English if these students want to have ‘the good life’ in their own countries.”

Host families can experience another country through exchange students and establish relationships that span miles and last a lifetime. Families do not have to have teenage children to become a host family.

Students arrive with their own spending money and full health insurance. The host family contributes room and board, and welcomes the student as a member of the family for a semester or full academic year.

The central mission of ISE is to promote global peace through cross-cultural understanding. Call Kathy Smith at 947-1944 to learn more about serving as a host for an ISE International student.
