OWLS HEAD – An 18-year-old man was charged with reckless conduct for allegedly firing a handgun outside his home Wednesday night.

Knox County Sheriff’s Department responded to a complaint about shots being fired at the Meadow Brook Lane home of Herbert Harford, 18.

Harford was charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, Chief Deputy Todd Butler said.

He said the gun was a .357-caliber handgun. Harford also was charged with violation of conditions of release.

It is against the law to fire a weapon within 100 yards of a residence, Butler noted. Sgt. Steven Burns is the investigating officer.

On Saturday, Harford was charged with furnishing a place for minors to possess and consume alcohol. At that time, 10 minors were charged with illegal possession of alcohol. One 17-year-old male, who was unresponsive, was taken to a nearby hospital.
