BIDDEFORD – Lauren Stacey and Meagan Carman earned wins and Liz Bergeron picked up two saves as the University of Maine-Farmington swept the University of New England in a college softball doubleheader Thursday.
The Beavers won the opener 3-0 and the second game 1-0.
In the first game, Megan McCrum singled and drove in two runs for UM-Farmington. Lauren Overlock and Mary Berry each singled twice.
Michaela O’Rourke, Karcha Turner, and Chelsea Goslin singled for the UNE Nor’easters.
In the second game, Berry scored the Beavers’ only run, and Holly Tripp hit two singles.
O’Rourke and Ashley DePasquale each singled twice for UNE.

Colby loses two
At Fort Myers, Fla., Luther College scored four times in the third inning on the way to a 6-1 win over Colby College. DePauw University won the second game over the White Mules 12-1.
In the first game, Carlie Minichino doubled for Colby, and Alyssa Crowell singled and scored.
In the second game, Minichino hit a double for the White Mules, and Alaina Clark and Katie Wight singled.

At Mesa, Ariz., the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater scored all 12 of its runs in the last three innings to take the win.
Matt Schliewe hit a home run for the Warhawks, and Eddie Adamson doubled and singled to drive in four runs.
Nick Vardaro and Joe Ganley both singled twice for the University of Southern Maine of Gorham.

Colby splits with Fredonia
At Fort Myers, Fla., Andy Carr doubled and singled to drive in two runs and help Colby College post a 9-3 win in the second game of their doubleheader. Fredonia State won the opener 6-4.
In the first game, Phil Gavin doubled and singled for Fredonia, and Pete Lusk added two singles.
Tom Salemy hit two doubles and a single for Colby, and Carr hit a double and two singles.
In the second game, Zachary Helm earned his first collegiate win as he allowed just two earned runs through six innings for the White Mules. Salemy singled twice.
Ryan Sweda singled three times for Fredonia.
