Austin, 10, is a handsome boy with brown eyes and brown hair. He is friendly, curious and easily engaged.
Austin thrives on one-to-one adult attention and has a great desire to please his caregivers. He enjoys celebrating his successes and accomplishments and relishes positive adult reinforcement.
While Austin enjoys playing with other children, he also is just as content to play by himself. He enjoys exploring and reading about anything to do with nature. He likes catching frogs and grasshoppers, and learning about other animals. He is gentle with animals and enjoys all forms of life.
Austin also enjoys riding his bike, listening to music and anything to do with crafts. Sometimes, Austin’s attention may need to be redirected to move into a new activity.
Austin has proven he is capable of meeting academic goals, although his emotional and behavioral needs sometimes interfere with his progress.
An adoption subsidy is available for the most appropriate family. Austin is one of the 155 children currently in the Maine Department of Health and Human Services care who are seeking an adoptive family.
Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care. For more information about Austin or other children available for adoption, please contact A Family for ME toll free at (877) 505-0545 or visit www.AFamilyForMe.org and see the Heart Gallery of photographs of some of the many children awaiting a “forever family.”
