BANGOR – Justin Spencer hit a two-run home run and two singles to lead Husson College past the University of Maine- Farmington to a 5-1 win in the opener of doubleheader Sunday. The Eagles completed the sweep with a 7-0 victory in the nightcap.
In the first game, Adam Sheehan singled and scored two runs for Husson.
Tyler Hanson hit an RBI single for the Beavers.
In the second game, Spencer hit a three-run homer and scored twice for the Eagles. Jason Harvey and Sheehan added two singles and an RBI each.
Greg Melanson and Chip Burnham each singled for the Beavers.

Southern Maine splits
At Providence, R.I., Saturday, Jordan Yanni homered, doubled, and singled to drive in three runs and lead the University of Southern Maine to a 14-8 win over Rhode Island College in the first game.
The Anchormen won the second game 4-2.
It was the 600th career victory for coach Ed Flaherty.
In the first game, Ryan Bourque hit a home run and drove in three runs for the Huskies, and Eddie Skeffington had three singles and an RBI.
Mike Naylor doubled twice for Rhode Island College.
In the second game, Jordan Amorin doubled and drove in a run for the Anchormen.
Bourque hit his second home run in as many games and singled for the Huskies.

Saint Joseph’s sweeps
At Plymouth, NH, Sunday, Luke Enman hit a home run in each game to help Saint Joseph’s College to the 9-2 win over Plymouth State in the first game and the 12-6 victory in the second.
In the first game, Enman homered, tripled, and singled to knock in three runs for the Monks. Chris Doughty had two singles and two RBIs and Ben Muniz doubled and singled and scored three runs.
Josh Labossierre hit a solo home run for Plymouth State.
In the second game, Muniz homered, doubled, and singled and scored four runs for Saint Joseph’s College. Enman had a home run and a double with two RBIs and Charlie Furbush added two singles and four RBIs.
Labossiere hit a home run and a single to drive in two runs for the Panthers.

UM-Farmington, Bates split
At Lewiston Saturday, Erin Porter hit a two-run double in the fifth inning to help the Beavers hold off Bates 7-6 in the second game of a doubleheader. The Bobcats won the opener 9-1.
In the first game, the Bobcats scored seven runs in the first three innings. Stacia Saniuk doubled, singled twice, and drove in a run while Katie Franklin hit a double, a single, and had two RBIs. Kate Ross led UMF with an RBI single and Porter doubled.
In the second game, Brandi Rideout, Mary Berry, and Kelly McDonough each had an RBI for UMF in the second, but after Bates rallied, Porter hit her second double of the day. Sara Martin and Rideout each plated a run to help push the Beavers to a 7-3 lead.
Bates scored three runs in the fifth, but Liz Bergeron pitched shutout innings in the sixth and seventh. Saniuk hit a homer for the Bobcats.

Brandeis sweeps Husson
At Waltham, Mass., Sunday, Natalie Volpe hit a three-run homer and pitched a shutout by allowing just two hits and no walks while striking out four to lead Brandeis University to an 8-0 win in the opener. The Judges also won the second game 10-1.
In the first game, Brianne Smith doubled and singled to drive in a run for Brandeis, and Christine McWilliams had three RBIs.
Jordon Pruett and Sabrina Sevigny singled for Husson.
In the second game, Volpe singled twice to knock in two runs for the Judges, and McWilliams had two singles and an RBI.
Carolyn McAvoy homered and singled for the Eagles, and Shawna Bell and Pruett doubled.

At Gorham Saturday, freshman Bree Loon allowed just five hits and no runs to lead the University of Southern Maine to a 7-0 win over Rhode Island College in the second game. The Anchorwomen took the first game 2-0.
In the first game, Kristyn Alexander and Megan Ponte each drove in a run for Rhode Island College.
Sabrina Mills doubled for Southern Maine.
In the second game, Caitlin Stivaletta tripled, singled, and drove in a run for the Huskies. Caterina Riitano had a double and three RBIs, and Christen Lachapelle doubled and singled.
Jeanne Rosa hit a triple for the Anchorwomen.

Babson sweeps Southern Maine
At Babson Park, Mass., Sunday, Erica Barry hit a two-out, RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Babson College the 1-0 win in the second game. The Beavers also took the first game 1-0.
In the first game, Meghan Gaskell scattered five hits to earn the shutout win over the Huskies.
Christen Lachapelle singled twice for USM.
In the second game, Stacy Schlicht allowed just one hit and no walks while striking out 10 for the Beavers.

MMA, UM-Presque Isle split
At Castine Sunday, Nicole Michaud racked up 10 strikeouts as the Owls earned a 14-2 victory over the Mariners in the opening game of a doubleheader. Maine Maritime took the second game 10-9.
In the first game, Megan Anderson and Laney Ray each went 3-for-5 and Erin Pelletier was 3-for-4 to lead UMPI. Ray scored three runs. Kristen Gaylord paced the Mariners with 3-for-4 hitting while Chelsie Carver was 2-for-4. Jess Whittaker took the loss.
In the second game, Whittaker struck out four and picked up the win for MMA. Meghan McKay and Darcy Herrick both went 3-for-4 with two runs. Anna Lenentine and Ray each had three hits to go with three runs and Ashley Morden added three hits.
Saint Joseph’s earns split
At Newton, Mass., Sunday, Kim Bechard hit two doubles and knocked in two runs as the Monks recorded a 7-4 win in the second game of a doubleheader against Lasell. The Lasers won the first game4-2.
In the opener, Lindsey Bamford smacked a two-run homer to power Lasell and Amanda Corey struck out 10 in the win. Kristi Albert led Saint Joseph’s with two singles and an RBI, while Alyson Ludwig had an RBI double.
In the nightcap, Colby McKenney chipped in with two singles and an RBI for Saint Joseph’s, which rallied for four runs in the top of the fourth inning. Jayme Rautenberg led the Lasers with a home run and a single

At Castine Saturday, Will Hood scored five goals and assisted on two others to lead Maine Maritime Academy past Becker College.
Luke McPartlin had four goals and four assists for the Mariners, and Garrett Lake added three goals and an assist. Nate Dennan scored three goals, and Alan Alexander had two goals. John O’Malley and Chris Smith both added a goal. Rosco Bishop and Patrick Jones allowed one goal on four shots.
Alex Petrie scored on a Derek Lepore assist with 2:44 left in regulation for Becker. Peter Fellows stopped 34 shots.
