Altrusa International visit

Members of Altrusa International Inc. of Greater Bangor will host Christine Tuffnell, Altrusa member from Nelson, New Zealand, beginning April 14 as part of the District 15 Reciprocal Career Exchange Program. During her stay in Hampden, Tuffnell will make career connections and join members of Altrusa for a variety of activities.

Altrusa International Inc., based in Chicago, is a community service organization of business and professional people dedicated to providing meaningful service in their local communities. The local group is part of District One – New England, Bermuda and eastern Canada.

The exchange was created by District 15 to further the values of Altrusa by promoting international relations, professional and personal development and the sharing of community service projects.

The exchange alternates yearly between New Zealand and the host district.

Tuffnell, who was chosen from many applicants, is a registered nurse who works as a clinical medical herbalist.

‘Living in a Stepfamily’

“Living in a Stepfamily,” a three-part series on parenting, will be held 6-9 p.m. April 10, 17 and 24, at the Cooperative Extension Office, 307 Maine Ave.

Extension educator Louise O. Kirkland will help participants explore the differences between biological families and stepfamilies. Tips on communication will be discussed.
