AUGUSTA – Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap encouraged all Hurricane Katrina evacuees from New Orleans who have temporarily relocated to Maine to contact the Louisiana secretary of state’s office in order to participate in the coming Orleans Parish elections.

Elections postponed in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita will be held April 22 and May 20.

Registered Louisiana voters temporarily in Maine are eligible to vote in their home parishes if they have not registered to vote in Maine or another state. Hurricane Katrina evacuees who would like more information should contact the Louisiana secretary of state at 1-800-883-2805 or e-mail at elections@sos.louisiana.gov.
