STANDISH – Jack Hughes allowed just four hits and no walks while striking out nine to as Saint Joseph’s College blanked Husson College 1-0 in the first game of a baseball doubleheader Thursday.

The Monks also won the second game 7-4.

In the first game, Luke Enman drove in Wade Oliver for the game-winning run in the sixth inning for the Monks. Jake Rodden doubled.

Jeff Miller doubled and singled for the Eagles.

In the second game, Andrew Dvilinsky hit three singles and drove in two runs for Saint Joseph’s and Chris Doughty had two singles and two RBIs. Luke Enman homered and Charlie Furbush had two singles.

Justin Spencer homered and singled to drive in two runs for Husson and Danny White doubled and singled and scored two runs.

At Waterville, Jordan McDonald hit a triple and three singles to help lead Thomas College past Colby College.

Tim Mercier and Brandon Connors hit a double and two singles for the Terriers.

Andy Carr and Tyler Hales each doubled and singled for Colby.

Bowdoin sweeps UM-Farmington

At Brunswick, Megan Rodgers hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Bowdoin College the 4-2 win over the University of Maine at Farmington in the second game. The Polar Bears also took the first game 4-1.

In the first game, Rodgers hit three doubles to drive in two runs for Bowdoin. Danielle Chagnon tripled and scored two runs as Megan Wyman and Jessica Paris added two singles.

Megan Goodrow singled twice and drove in a run for UM-Farmington. Mary Berry doubled and scored a run and Lauren Overlock had two singles.

In the second game, Jayme Woogerd hit two singles and scored two runs for the Polar Bears.

Berry singled twice for the Beavers and Beanna Connors singled and drove in a run.

USM sweeps Saint Joseph’s

At Gorham, senior Katie Mainville tossed her fourth career no hitter and second of the season as the University of Southern Maine defeated Saint Joseph’s College 2-0 in the opener. The Huskies also shutout the Monks in the second game 3-0.

In the first game, Mainville struck out 14 of 18 batters and gave up just one walk to earn the win for the Huskies. Dawn Ross hit a two-out two-run single in the fifth inning.

In the second game, Megan Ford hit three singles and drove in a run for Southern Maine and Sabrina Mills doubled and singled.
