COLLEGE

Sarah Bennis

University of Maine pitcher Sarah Bennis earned America East Pitcher of the Week honors for softball. Bennis posted two wins against Vermont. She allowed just six hits and three walks while striking out 23 to post a 1.00 ERA.

Joe Hough

University of Maine’s Joe Hough was named the America East Baseball Player of the Week. Hough batted .533 with four runs scored and drove in seven runs for the Black Bears. He hit a triple and two home runs.

Kevin McAvoy

University of Maine’s Kevin McAvoy of Brewer won his fourth Baseball Rookie of the Week award from the America East Conference. McAvoy led the Black Bears with a .615 batting average with five runs scored and five RBIs. He had a double, triple, and two home runs.

Luke McPartlin

Maine Maritime Academy sophomore Luke McPartlin was named the North Atlantic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week. McPartlin scored five goals in the Mariners’ 11-8 win over Daniel Webster and posted two goals and two assists against Mt. Ida College. He also scored four goals against Green Mountain.

Katie Mainville

University of Southern Maine senior Katie Mainville was named the Little East Pitcher of the Week for softball. Mainville went 1-1 in two starts for the Huskies. In 13 1/3 innings pitched, she recorded 20 strikeouts, three walks, two hits, and one earned run.

Bree Loon

Freshman pitcher Bree Loon of the University of Southern Maine was honored as the Little East Conference Softball Rookie of the Week. Loon was 2-0 and allowed just one run in games against Saint Joseph’s College and Bowdoin College. She struck out 15 and walked none in 14 innings.

Chris Hopkins

University of Southern Maine junior Chris Hopkins was named the Men’s Track and Field Track Athlete of the Week by the Little East Conference. Hopkins won the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.99 at the Bryant Invitational.

Abbey Ahearn

Senior Abbey Ahearn of the University of Southern Maine was honored as the Little East Conference Field Athlete of the Week for Women’s Track and Field. Ahearn placed first in the hammer throw (150-7 feet) and fourth in the javelin (112-07 feet) at the Bryant Invitational.

Matt Erisman

Bates College junior Matt Erisman was named the NESCAC Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week. Erisman had four goals and two assists to help Bates to the 9-7 win over Colby.

Catharine O’Brien

Colby College junior goalkeeper Catharine O’Brien was honored as the NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week with Williams’ Rachel Barr. O’Brien made 48 saves and allowed 25 goals during a 3-0 week for the Mules.
