HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. – Farmington native Kevin Eastler set a course record by 3 minutes and 17 seconds while winning the USA Team trials for the World Cup of Racewalking Sunday. Eastler, a captain in the U.S. Air Force, finished the 20K race in a time of 1:25.15, breaking the old record set by Olympian Tim Seaman in 2005 of 1:28.32.
Maine’s Ben Shorey, a senior at the University of Wisconsin in Parkside, finished fifth in a time of 1:32.17. Easter and Shorey will be part of a five-man team which will compete at the World Cup in LaCoruna, Spain, in May.
