BANGOR – Low water levels and logistical problems have forced WABI-TV to cancel its coverage of the 40th Kenduskeag Canoe Race, which will take place Saturday.
WABI production manager Paul Saliwanchik said the station gets its strongest signal at Six Mile Falls, a popular site for spectators who watch the competitors navigate the rapids there. But because of low water levels there is a possibility competitors will have to portage around Six Miles Falls. Saliwanchik said the station’s engineering and production staff was unable to find another workable location.
WABI has covered the race since 1997.
