BREWER – When 600 advanced dancers from around the country descended on the Broadway Dance Center’s Pulse Workshop in New York, Sachi Cote was there.

Cote, who has studied with, taught and choreographed for Northern Lights Dance Arts in Brewer and other Maine communities, was one of just 25 dancers chosen from the group to perform in the Freestyle Talent Showcase during the three-day hip-hop and jazz workshop with master choreographers.

For Cote, who attended Brewer High School her junior year, the workshop also brought the opportunity to get together with nationally known dancers she has studied with before – Dave Scott, choreographer for the movie “You Got Served,” and Brian Friedman, who choreographed for Britney Spears and was a judge on “So You Think You Can Dance.”

Other choreographers participating in the workshop included Laurie Ann Gibson, Rhapsody, The Amount Boyz, Bev B., BT, Chio, Eric Jenkins, Jerma Browne, Leslie Feliciano and Luam.

Cote, the daughter of Kathie Jamison Cote, is pursuing her dance career and has signed with Triiiple Threat Talent Agency.
