Man crushed to death while working on car

AUBURN – A businessman was crushed to death when the car he was working on slipped off a farm tractor and fell on him, police said.

Michael Higgins, 37, was dead when rescue crews arrived at the scene in a grassy lot behind a garage near Higgins Sports Center.

Higgins was lying on his back beneath the car, which fell 3 or 4 feet when it slipped off the tractor that was being used to hoist it and hold it in the air.
