FARMINGTON – Devin Gill stole home with the game tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, lifting the University of Maine-Farmington baseball team to a 6-5 win over UMaine- Presque Isle Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader. UMF won the first game 9-6.
In the first game, Greg Melanson had a double, four RBIs, and scored two runs for the Beavers. Corey Provencher hit two doubles and a single to knock in two runs and Aaron Wolfe doubled and scored a run.
Brandon Elie doubled and tripled to drive in two runs for the Owls. Christopher Carlton had three singles and two runs scored and Shane Dupuis doubled and singled.
In the second game, Ryan DiPompo and Jacob Turner both hit a double and a single for UMF. Cody Stackpole added two singles.
Brian Morrison hit a double and scored twice for UMPI. Charles Reece singled and drove in two runs and Christopher Remick doubled.

Bowdoin sweeps Colby
At Brunswick Saturday, Patrick Driscoll allowed five hits and two walks while striking out five to earn the complete game 12-1 win for Bowdoin over Colby in the opening game of a doubleheader. Bowdoin scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take the second game 8-3.
In the first game, Nick Lawler doubled twice and scored twice for the Polar Bears. Chris McCann hit a double and drove in two runs as John Lawrie and Jared Lemieux each had two singles.
Andy Carr doubled and drove in a run for the White Mules and Nick Spillane added two singles.
In the second game, Bowdoin’s Ricky Leclerc homered and singled to knock in two runs and score three times. Lawrie had a double and a single with two RBIs and Joe Berte had two singles with an RBI.
Colby’s Tyler Hales had two singles and two RBIs and Kyle McKay drove in two runs on a single and a sacrifice fly.

Southern Maine wins two
At Gorham Saturday, Brett Rogers threw 7 1/3 innings of scoreless relief over two games to lead the Huskies to a pair of 4-3 wins over Eastern Connecticut State.
In the first game, Jordan Yanni gave USM the lead on a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning. Ryan Bourque notched two hits, including an RBI single.
Chris DeSantis hit an RBI single for the Warriors.
In the second game, Chris Burleson scored on an error in the 10th to lift the Huskies. He also had two doubles and a single while Ryan Bourque hit a solo homer.
Greg Sullivan had an RBI double, and Shawn Gilblair and Marc Garofolo notched two hits apiece for the Warriors.

At Albany, N.Y., Saturday, Casey Halloran tossed a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts and two walks as the Great Danes took the finale of a three-game series. The Black Bears won the first two games.
Ashley Rios led Albany with a triple, a double, two RBIs and two runs scored as the Danes erupted for four runs in the fourth inning.
Molly McKinney hit two singles for Maine, which scored its only run in the top of the fourth as Brittany Cheney singled and scored on an error. Sarah Bennis took the loss, allowing two hits and four walks with three strikeouts in four innings.

Lesley sweeps Husson
At Cambridge, Mass., Saturday, Katie Bennett tallied a combined eight RBIs in two games as the Lynx swept the Eagles of Bangor, winning the first game 9-1 and the second game 7-5.
In the first game, Christina Anzilotti tossed a two-hitter with two strikeouts and one walk. Bennett racked up five RBIs on two doubles and a single. Husson’s Jordon Pruett doubled while Sabrina Sevigny had an RBI.
In the second game, Bennett hit a three-run triple to lead the Lynx. Husson’s Shawna Bell went 4-for-4 with two triples and two singles, while Sevigny hit a three-run homer.
USM, UMass Dartmouth split
At North Dartmouth, Mass., Saturday, Katie Mainville scattered four hits to pitch the Huskies to a 4-2 win in the opening game of a doubleheader, while the Corsairs won the second game 10-3.
In the first game, Mainville tallied 10 strikeouts. Christen Lachapelle doubled in a run and Caterina Riitano added an RBI single.
Jessica Werner drove in two runs on a double for UMass Dartmouth.
In the second game, the Corsiars jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first three innings. Brittany Kannan went 3-for-3, including a three-run homer.
USM’s Katie Martell, Megan Stanley and Caitlin Stivaletta each had RBI doubles in the fourth.
